How to Join a Church in San Bernardino: Becoming a Member of CAGI

November 1, 2026· Church of Amazing Grace International

If you have been searching for how to join a church in San Bernardino where faith, family, and culture come together, we would love to welcome you to Church of Amazing Grace International (CAGI). We are a Reformed African Christian congregation serving the Kenyan diaspora and the broader African immigrant community across San Bernardino and Southern California. Becoming a member here is less about paperwork and more about finding a spiritual home—a place to grow in Christ and belong to a family.

Why People Choose to Join a Church in San Bernardino Like CAGI

Founded in 2009, CAGI is a New Worshiping Community under the Presbytery of Riverside. We worship and fellowship in English, Gĩkũyũ, and Swahili, so whether you grew up singing hymns in Nairobi or Los Angeles, you will hear the gospel in a language that speaks to your heart. We worship at 829 N. Mount Vernon Avenue, San Bernardino, CA 92411—a welcoming home base for a community that spans many nations but shares one Lord.

Membership at CAGI means being known, prayed for, and encouraged. It means having brothers and sisters who will walk with you through the joys and trials of life far from home.

Step One: Come and Worship With Us

The first step is simply to show up. Join us for Sunday worship at 11:00 AM (our choir warms up at 10:00 AM, and visitors are always welcome to listen in). Come as you are. You do not need to know anyone, dress a certain way, or understand every part of the service. Our members will greet you, help you find a seat, and answer your questions.

If Sundays are difficult, our midweek gatherings are a wonderful way to get to know the church family:

  • Wednesday Bible Study, 8:00 PM — dig into Scripture together and ask honest questions.
  • Thursday Prayer Meeting, 8:00 PM — bring your burdens and lift up one another.

Step Two: Get to Know the Family

As you visit, take time to build relationships. Stay after the service for fellowship, introduce yourself, and let others learn your name and your story. Faith grows best in community, and membership is really the natural fruit of belonging. Many who now call CAGI home began simply by coming back week after week until the congregation felt like family.

If you would like someone to reach out, pray with you, or explain more about the life of the church, you can always contact us through our contact page. A member of our leadership will be glad to connect with you personally.

Step Three: Make Your Commitment

When you are ready to take the step of formal membership, our pastor and leaders will walk with you through what it means to commit to Christ and to this local body. As a Reformed congregation in the Presbyterian tradition, we welcome believers to affirm their faith, be received into the church, and take their place in the life and ministry of the congregation. This is a joyful moment—a public declaration that you belong to Christ and to His people here in San Bernardino.

There is no pressure and no rush. Membership is a covenant of love, not a transaction, and we want you to take the step with a glad and settled heart.

Step Four: Get Involved

Belonging comes alive through serving. Once you are part of the family, there are many ways to get involved:

  • Sing with the choir (practice begins at 10:00 AM on Sundays).
  • Join a Bible study or prayer group and grow in the Word.
  • Serve newcomers, help with hospitality, or support outreach to fellow immigrants finding their footing in a new land.

Every gift matters, and every member has a place. As Scripture reminds us, we are one body with many members, each one needed and valued.

We Would Love to Welcome You

Choosing to join a church in San Bernardino is one of the most meaningful decisions you can make for your faith and your family. At CAGI, you will find a Christ-centered community that celebrates our African heritage while pointing everyone to the amazing grace of Jesus.
