Finding a Kenyan Church in San Bernardino: You Are Welcome Here
Moving to a new country, or even a new city, can leave you longing for a place that feels like home. If you have been searching for a Kenyan church in San Bernardino, we want you to know that you are not alone, and you already have a place waiting for you. Church of Amazing Grace International was founded in 2009 to be a spiritual home for the Kenyan diaspora and the broader African immigrant community here in San Bernardino and across Southern California.
We are a Reformed African Christian congregation and a New Worshiping Community under the Presbytery of Riverside. That means we hold firmly to the historic Christian faith, centered on the grace of God revealed in Jesus Christ, while worshiping in a way that honors the cultures and languages many of us carry with us from home.
Why a Kenyan Church in San Bernardino Matters
For many immigrant families, faith and community are deeply woven together. A Kenyan church in San Bernardino is more than a Sunday gathering; it is a family away from family. It is a place where your children can hear the gospel, where familiar songs lift your spirit, and where you can pray in the languages closest to your heart. At Church of Amazing Grace International, we worship in English, Gĩkũyũ, and Swahili, so that no one has to leave part of who they are at the door.
Whether you are a recent arrival, a student, a working professional, or a family putting down roots in the Inland Empire, you will find people here who understand the joys and the challenges of building a life far from where you began.
When We Gather
Our weekly rhythm of worship and prayer gives the community many ways to connect:
- Sunday Worship — 11:00 AM (choir practice begins at 10:00 AM)
- Wednesday Bible Study — 8:00 PM
- Thursday Prayer Meeting — 8:00 PM
Sunday morning is the heart of our life together. Come a little early if you would like to hear the choir prepare, or simply arrive in time for worship and let us welcome you. Our midweek Bible study and prayer meeting are wonderful, less formal ways to grow in faith and get to know others more personally.
Where to Find Us
We currently gather at First Presbyterian Church of San Bernardino (1900 North D Street). Beginning August 2, 2026, our permanent home is:
829 N. Mount Vernon Avenue, San Bernardino, CA 92411
The location is easy to reach from across the Inland Empire, and there is no special dress code or membership required to visit. Come as you are. You do not need to know anyone, and you do not need to have it all figured out. Simply walking through the door is enough.
What to Expect on Your First Visit
If you have never visited a Reformed African congregation before, here is what a typical Sunday looks like. You will be greeted warmly at the door. Worship is Christ-centered and Scripture-based, with singing, prayer, and a message rooted in God's Word. Because we worship in English, Gĩkũyũ, and Swahili, you will likely hear more than one language lifted in praise, a beautiful picture of the gospel reaching every people and tongue.
After the service, stay for fellowship. This is often where the real sense of family takes hold, over conversation, shared stories, and the simple gift of being known.
A Word of Welcome
The name of our church is not an accident. We are here because of amazing grace, the undeserved love of God that found us and made us a family. If life in the diaspora has felt lonely, or if you simply want to worship among people who share your roots and your faith, we would be honored to welcome you.
You can learn more about our community and read encouragement for your faith journey on our blog, and when you are ready to plan a visit or ask a question, please reach out to us. You are also welcome to email us directly at cagikumg@churchofamazinggraceinternational.org.
We look forward to meeting you, and to worshiping our Lord together. Karibu sana. You are welcome here.
